 .............the  police ''house..'.......

well its finally happened the new one Scottish Police Force- (look elsewhere in this issue)- and what a concept it is- we are fully in support of a -one Scottish Police Force- under the control of Chief Constable Stephen House .

Even in the early days when there was a strategy of  the one scottish Police Force- i had no idea who would be the ideal candidate to head such an organisation.

When Stephen House took over the head position of Strathclyde Police in 2007 , i deliberately waited until he was six months into the post before i interviewed him- i had interviewed up to 4 police chief constables- everyone unique- everyone different.

The interview itself was tense- he had brought in a public relations officer for the interview , which no other police chief had ever done. The p.r. officer looked at best attentive and watchful at all times, i could  sense that she was new to her post as well. Stephen although born in Glasgow- had taken various positions all over the country before settling into his present post. there was much trepidation amongst many when he arrived from the Met to take up his post.
